Trekking Equipment  

The following is a list of clothing and accessories that we recommend for treks and climbs in Nepal. This is not intended to be a comprehensive clothing and equipment list, rather it is intended to act as a reminder of those items that we feel are essential for your comfort and convenience. However we recognize that you may have your own personal preferences for clothing which may be equally as suitable.

For Head
 
  1. Sun hat or scarf
  2. Light balaclava or warm fleece hat
  3. Sunglasses with UV protection
  4. Upper Body
  5. T-shirts (2)
  6. Light and expedition weight thermal tops
  7. Fleece jacket or pullover
  8. Fleece Wind-Stopper jacket (optional)
  9. Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell jacket
  10. Down vest and/or jacket (optional)

For Hands
 
  1. Lightweight gloves
  2. Heavyweight gloves or mittens with a waterproof shell outer
  3. Lower Body
  4. Underwear (4)
  5. Hiking shorts (2)
  6. Lightweight cotton long pants
  7. Light and expedition weight thermal bottoms
  8. Fleece or wool pants
  9. Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell pants
  10.  
For Feet
  1. Thin, lightweight inner socks (4)
  2. Thick, warm wool hiking socks (4)
  3. Hiking boots with spare laces
  4. Camp shoes (sneakers and/or sandals)
  5. Gaiters (Optional)
  6. Accessories
  7. Sleeping bag rated -10C. to -20C (Depending on trekking region)
  8. Headlamp (e.g. Petzl Zoom) with spare bulbs and batteries
  9. Small pad or combination lock-to-lock trek bag
  10. Basic First Aid Kit (see Health and Medicinal)
  11. Large plastic bags - for keeping items dry inside trek bags
  12. Daypack (approximately 2500 to 3000 cubic inches)
  13. Thermarest sleeping pad (Only Camping Trek)
  14. Water bottles (2)
  15. Toiletries
  16. Small wash towel
  17. Optional items
  18. Binoculars
  19. Books (Highly Recommended)
  20. Compass
  21. Playing cards/backgammon/chess set
  22. Swiss Knife

  24. Recommended Mountaineering Kit
In addition to the items mentioned above for trekking, the following is a list of the additional specialized items which are required for the trekking peaks.
Plastic or leather mountaineering boots, with gaiters and crampons that have been tested for a good fit.
Fleece trousers or silhouette
Additional mits and gloves suitable for climbing
Ice axe, and ski poles (note - ice axes can be rented in Kathmandu)
Climbing helmet
Alpine climbing harness.
2 x tape slings
2 x screwgate karabiners
Descender/abseil device
Ascender
