Everest base camp Trek provides you the great opportunity to have unique experience in the Everest region of Nepal. If you have ever longed to set eyes on the world's highest peak, then this adventurous trek gives you the opportunity to fulfill that dream. Ever since the days of early climbing expeditions, this mountain with an altitude of 8884 m has had a lure of its own, drawing climbers to scale it and trekkers to gaze on its icy faces. Naturally, the trail to the base camp of the mountain has become one of the most popular routes for trekking in Nepal. From Kathmandu, we shall fly to Lukla, and the adventure begins as we land at its tiny airstrip. We shall spend several days trekking through the homelands of the Sherpa inhabitants—via their villages and Buddhist monasteries, with distant views of Everest and neighboring Ama Dablam considered by many to be among the most beautiful mountains in Nepal. An extra day shall be spent at Namche Bazaar—the bustling market town in the heart of Sherpa country, and a cluster of houses set among the high summer grazing pastures. These rest days allow time to explore further and to acclimatize yourself with the elevating altitude. The major attractions for this trek shall be the awe-inspiring views which unfold from the summit of Kala Patthar, and the chaotic ice sculptures of the Khumbu Glacier, Nuptse and the south-west face of Everest itself. In addition to these, the personal sense of achievement that many experiences at the end of their trek are most striking.
Everest Base Camp in Nepal
Trek to Everest Base Camp is one of the most desired and destined treks across the world. You trek begins after you arrive at Lukla via a flight from Kathmandu. Since Kathmandu to (from) Lukla is considered one of the best air routes in the world, you shall witness several peaks with altitude more than 7,000 m, including the peaks with more than 8,000 m altitudes, such as Thamserku, Langtang Ri, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse and the Everest.
Everest Base Camp in Tibet
Tibet boasts the south base camp of the Everest. In addition to getting entry permits from Tibet Autonomous Region of China, you also need to take trekking permits from the Chinese government. The base of Rongbuk Glacier has the north base camp.
Everest Base Camp Trek and High Altitude Sickness
Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE), and High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE) are the three kinds of high altitude sickness that might challenge you during your trek to the Everest Base Camp. No matter how many times one has made this trek, there always remains the possibility of being affected by it. Lack of oxygen in the air causes altitude sickness. The best ways to avoid altitude sickness is taking plenty of time for acclimatization and rest. Do not be over excited by the fever of accomplishing the trek as soon as you can. Go slow, take plenty of rest, drink a lot of water, acclimatize and take proper care of food and personal hygiene. Pack Diamox and other medicines required in case of severe altitude sickness.

Accommodation in Everest Base Camp Trek
Throughout the Everest Base Camp trek, you can accommodate at several teahouses, lodges, hotels or do camping. You shall find lots of tea houses, hotels, and lodges in the chief trail of EBC. The services at tea houses can be limited to basic facilities. Namche Bazar boasts lots of standard hotels, bigger in sizes and with several services. Rooms in the tea houses shall be small, and may not have a toilet in the high altitude areas. Since most of the teahouses in these areas depend on solar electricity, these rooms shall lack heating. To give you a gross picture, there shall be a blanket, a bed, and a pillow. Even these rooms get pretty filled up during the high seasons; you might have to pre-book your rooms during these seasons. However, you might be equipped with extra services and special arrangement in the Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek.

EBC Trek for First Time Trekkers
Everest Base Camp is a moderate level of trekking; you do not require athletic physical fitness to accomplish this trek successfully. However, few prior trekking experiences and exercises can be very beneficial since they will make your body in proper shape and in the habit to adapt with less amount of oxygen present in the air.

Packing List for EBC Trek
Do not over pack your rucksack for this trek. Be limited to essential items. Keep in mind that you shall be charged for any extra weight that your porters carry when the weight threshold is crossed. Do not forget to pack thermal underwear, a fleece jacket, and down jacket. With these, add few T-shirts, long pants, and jumper. Ensure that the boots that you are planning to wear during the trek are lightweight; pack few trekking socks, sandals, raincoat, woolen hat, gloves, polarized sunglasses, and sunhat. Also, pack a perfect sleeping bag.

Food in EBC Trek
The most pervasive dish that you can find in every menu, no matter where you reach during the trek, is Dal Bhat. It is served with lentils, rice, beans, green vegetables, locally made pickles, Papad, salad, etc. This shall be plenty for your lunch, as it often goes "Dal Bhat Power 24 hour"! In addition to these, you shall get pancakes, eggs, toasts, bread etc. with tea or coffee for the breakfast. Pasta, noodles etc. can be a good substitute for Dal Bhat. The interesting part of having Dal Bhat in lunch is that you shall not be charged for any additional items no matter how many times you ask for! This dish item is meant to be served until the eater feels filling. However, do not eat the Yak Burger, no matter how tempting it might look like.

Charging your gadgets
You shall get plenty of power to charge your electric gadgets in the lower elevated areas of the trek; however since the teahouses located at the high altitude areas run on solar power, you are required to pay an additional charge for charging your gadgets, which, even sometimes you might not get. Thus, there's no use of bringing items that very quickly run out of juice, unless you have additional power resources.

Everest Base Camp Trek Cost
You can start the Everest Base Camp Trek either from Lukla or from Jiri. The itinerary from Jiri to Everest Base Camp is quite long, thus shall be quite expensive in comparison to the one that starts from Lukla. Keep in mind that there are various packages for EBC trek such as Classic EBC Gokyo Trekking, Everest Base Camp Trekking, Everest High Passes Trek, Everest Three Pass Trek, etc. The cost of EBC trekking varies in terms of the package, your starting point of the trek, the season of trekking, the status of trekking, etc. However, Mountain Hiking & Trekking Pvt. Ltd. provides all sorts of several EBC trekking at most reasonable price in Nepal.

Physical Fitness
Going for a long walk or jogging few weeks before starting the trek can be very beneficial to you. Everest Base Camp Trek is not a technical climbing, thus you do not have to worry much about the climbing techniques. Ensure that your body can endure long duration of walking for some days in a row. Also, ensure that you do not have any problem related to your ankles or knees. You do not require extraordinary physical fitness to complete this trek.

Everest Base Camp Trekking Route
After you arrive in Kathmandu, you shall fly to Lukla. From Lukla, you shall trek to Phakding. Leaving Phakding you shall reach Namche Bazar. You shall spend an additional day at Namche Bazar. Next day you shall head off to Tyangboche. Via Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorakshep, you shall reach all the way to the Everest Base Camp. Returning back to Gorakshep, you shall trek towards Pheriche to arrive at Namche Bazar. Via Phakding you shall reach Lukla, and catch a return flight to Kathmandu.
Kathmandu (1,320 m)-Phakding (2,652 m)-Namche Bazar (3,440 m)-Tyangboche (3,870 m)-Dingboche (4,400 m)-Lobuche (4,900 m)-Gorakshep (5,180 m)-Everest Base Camp (5,364 m)-Pheriche (4,320 m)-Namche Bazar (3,440 m)-Phakding (2,652 m)-Kathmandu (1,320 m)

Everest Advanced Base Camp
Most of the climbers are destined towards the Camp 1 i.e. the Everest Advanced Base Camp. Located at another side of Khumbu Ice Fall, a moderate level of trekking isn't sufficient to reach this base camp, it does require mountaineering skills. Please contact us for more information about this activity.

Camping at Everest Base Camp
Since the surface area of the Everest Base Camp contains moraines and is not plain, you cannot do camping at the base camp. Also, you can do camping during the trek only in the climbing season. After you reach to the base camp, you shall return back to Gorakshep to stay overnight.

Dangers during EBC Trek
To avoid getting knocked off the edge by yak, you step aside to the wall if you happen to encounter with yak in your trail. Some of the areas in the Everest region had suffered major damage during the devastating earthquake of 2015, but almost all of the teahouses and routes have been restored, even new teahouses are being built in these areas. Altitude sickness can be another challenge that you might have to face during the trek. We have already talked about altitude sickness before in this post. The weather of this region is unstable, there might be a need for immediate evacuation.

Insurance for Everest Base Camp Trek
It is important to note that not all of the insurance companies cover the insurance for high altitude areas. Thus ensure that the travel insurance you take covers insurance in high altitude area reading the insurance policy very clearly. Also ensure that this insurance also covers any immediate helicopter evacuation, if need arises.

Best Season for Everest Base Camp Trek
March through to May, and September through to November are considered to be the perfect time for completing this trek. However, October is considered to be the busiest season of all. Thus, if you are planning to go for the Everest Base Camp trek, and if you do not like to trek during the busiest season, you might not consider trekking during October; the teahouses get pretty filled up soon during this season. If you want to enrich your experience of trekking via the dense forest full of blooming red rhododendrons, you might consider trekking March through to May months.

Popular Treks in Everest Region
Everest region is pretty popular for trekking in Nepal as it is the home-region of the world's tallest peak—the Mount Everest. Some of the popular treks in the Everest region include Classic EBC Gokyo Trekking, Everest Base Camp Trekking, Everest High Pass Trek, Everest View Trek, Ama Dablam Base Camp Trekking, Everest Three High Passes Trek, Everest Pike Hill Trekking, Everest Luxury Trek, etc. No matter what trek you choose and how many times you have completed this trek, you shall always find something new to be amazed at.

Since no tea house is available from Jorsale to Namche Bazaar portion, we will have to have our lunch here.

From jorsale, across the river again with long suspension bridge, then short walking through the riverbank brings you to another deep suspension bridge which is known as a HILLARY SUNSPENSION BRIDGE. Crossing this bridge connects you to the big hill which required a tough walk all the way up to Namche Bazaar.

Little more than half walking to this hill, there is a rest point which gives you a first glimpse of Mt. Everest, it is just amazing.

You may just explore Namche Bazaar, visit its Sherpa museum- a great place to learn Sherpa culture and history of mountaineering and if this happens to be Saturday, you would have a wonderful local market (Hatt Bazaar) at Namche Bazaar, it is interesting and a wonderful experience about how the locals do exchange their goods or buying their requires stuff for the market itself. Namche Bazaar, itself is a tourist shopping hub with all the required trekking and mountaineering clothing and equipment. O/N at Namche. B/L/D

O/N at Dingboche. B/L/D

From this day onward, the trek is gradual up hill; due to the altitude it is harder and tough. However till reaching to the Dungla, the walking is mostly gradual and after here to the top of the hill to the memorial stupas of the climbers who lost their life’s while trekking and climbing over to the Khumbu Himalayas, the trail is steep incline thus it is a tough up hill.Another short walk from this hill top following a walking over rugged mountain route brings us to the small settlement of this hill top at Loboje for overnight. Hiking from Gorekshep to Everest Base Camp is mostly straightforward; the trail wound in and out, rocky dunes and moraine, little ups and downs along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier before eventually stepping out onto the glacier itself. Explore this wonderful part of this amazing Himalayan glacier surroundings, visit the Khumbu ice fall etc and enjoy your most auspicious time with making best photos and videos. If this happens to be an event of the expedition seasons, you would likely to see the climbers who had their temporary climbing set up at base camp with their tented camps; it even looks the base camp colorful.Late afternoon, return back to Gorekshep and overnight. B/L/D

Everest are, Pumari() chantse, and Lingtiring & south col on the left and Nuptse, Lhotse sar etc on the right.Enjoy this moment, as it is the best opportunity to photography and video the Himalayan Shangri-la. It could be freezing cold so make sure that you are warm enough with your clothing. After amazing time over here, return back to Gorekshep, breakfast and pack up your bag and get ready to walk back to Pheriche for overnight.
